Police arrests six persons, seizes as many vehicles in Baramulla

Srinagar: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have arrested six persons and seized as many vehicles in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Monday.

He said that a police party seized 03 vehicles (tippers) and arrested 03 persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Bungam Kunzer. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Hamid resident of Pariswani, Shabir Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Qadir resident of Ratnipora & Firdous Ahmad Magray son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Chandil Wanigam.

Moreover, a police party of PP Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan seized 03 vehicles (tippers) and arrested 03 persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khanpeth. They have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi son of Ghulam Ahmad Reshi resident of Hanjiwera, Umar Nabi Parray son of Ghulam Nabi Parray resident of Gokhama Kunzer and Jahangir Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Hassan Shah resident of Batpora Kunzer.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, he added.
