Vital Bijbehara-Sirhama road lying in dilapidated condition

Locals demand macadamisation, repairs  

Anantnag: The all important Bijbehara-Sirhama road which was macadamised two years back is lying in dilapidated condition causing immense trouble to the commuters, locals alleged.

Locals from Sirhama ,Wopzan, Badroo, and other areas said that two years back, PMGSY department had macadamised the vital road but within no time it developed cracks at several spots.

They said that it developed cracks at several spots and the road is currently lying in dilapidated condition at most of the places.

Ishtiyak Ahmad, a resident of K Kalan said that this road has vital importance and is connecting dozens of villages with district headquarter and road was macadamised two years back but there is need of drain at some spots so that water coming out of drains of some households won’t spill directly on road and won’t damage it.

Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Kandipora said that the road was macadamised two year back but it is in dilapidated condition at several spots due to which public is suffering.

The locals said that the local authorities must construct drains along the road so that road won’t get damaged so frequently.

They said this issue was brought in notice of concerned authorities several times but nothing is being done on the ground.

They sought attention of LG Manoj Sinha and other authorities in this regard.

Meanwhile, an official assured that damaged spots on the road will be macadamised this year.
