Police arrests three drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
In Baramulla, a police party during naka checking at Main Market Tangmarg intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During checking, 40 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Latief Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of Nadirgund Kahipora Tangmarg. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Similarly, a police party arrested one drug smuggler identified as Khalid Rashid Lone son of Abdul Rashid Lone resident of Hanjiwera Pattan during naka checking at Kungamdara Pattan. During search, 50 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Kulgam, a police party intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker son of Mohammad Hayat Thoker resident of Kadder. During checking, 2.3Kgs of Cannabis Powder and 50 grams of Charas carrying in a Nylon bag was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug smuggler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party during naka checking at Saidpora Uri intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 80 grams of Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mehmood Shah son of Ghulam Nabi Shah resident of Nambla Uri. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uri and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
