Awareness Program on HIV, Drug De-addiction held

Srinagar: A two day awareness program was held at Malik Lane MehjoorNagar Srinagar during the last week on February. The event was organized by Al-Habib Foundation in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, a statement issued here by the organization said.

The inaugural address was presented by Tasleema Shah chairperson of Al Habib Foundation.

The locals were made aware of medical, psychological, and social inferences of HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse by various experts, the statement said.

Sahaf Qadiri, Clinical Psychologist during her presentation made the participants aware about the medical aspects of the disease and its relation to Drug Abuse.

She was followed by Malik Asif Noor social activist, who focused on the abusers’ emotional and psychological health.

The event was presented by Shaista Shah, also a Clinical Psychologist, the statement said. The event was properly advocated and organized by Tasleema Shah, Chairperson and of Al-Habib Foundation.

At the end Tasleema Shah thanked JK Aids Control Society for providing such opportunity to aware the society about the Drug Abuse and HIV.

She expressed her gratitude to the experts and doctors who spoke on the occasion and the volunteers for rightly cooperating and hosting the event successfully.

The participants were later presented with mementos after the program. Proper safety precautions, in view of COVID-19, were taken, the statement added.
