Awareness programme for senior citizens held at Anantnag
ANANTNAG: On the directions of JKSLSA and under the guidance of chairman DLSA Anantnag, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag Tuesday organized an awareness programme on the Rights of Senior Citizens at newly established Old Age Home ‘Ahata-E-Waqar’ in Pazalpora Bijbehara, here under constitution of India and, Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
The programme was organized in collaboration with District Social Welfare Department Anantnag, Sakhi One Stop Center Anantnag and Elderline Anantnag.
The senior citizen clubs were provided with Carrom boards and other recreational materials. A harmonium was also provided by the Social Welfare Department to ‘Ahata-E-Waqar’ inmates.
The secretary DLSA Anantnag, Mir Wajahat delivered a detailed lecture on the said Act, the essence and need of old age homes and all the facilities for elderly persons.
Senior citizens, members of NGOs, Deputy Chief LADC Anantnag, and Assistant LADC Anantnag participated in the said programme.
