Six years on, Mini secretariat Tral awaits completion
Pulwama: Even after a lapse of around six years, the mini-secretariat in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been awaiting completion as work has been going on in peace meals this project since the past three years.
Locals said that mini-secretariat Tral was sanctioned in year 2017 with an estimated cost of around 7 crore, however, with no funds available the project is nowhere near completion.
They said that the mini-secretariat was sanctioned with an aim to provide all services in Tral and to cut down travel time as district headquarters Pulwama is around 30 Kms from Tral.
They said that a land which was under horticulture department was given for the purpose of constructing the mini Secretariat but now over five years have passed and it is nowhere nearing completion.
The locals said that even after completion of five years only 30 percent work has been completed and since last three years work has been put on hold.
Bashir Ahmad, a local resident said that the residents of far flung areas of Tral are facing lot of problems while reaching to Pulwama to get their work done.
“If mini Secretariat will be made functional at Tral, then they can avail benefit of every service at Tral only which will save their time and money as well,” he said.
Locals said that this issue has been brought in notice of the authorities several times but to no avail.
The locals also requested higher ups to look into the matter and complete the project at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, an official of the JKPCC Pulwama said that before abrogation of article 370, a local MLA had given Rs 1 Cr for the project which is the only money they have received so far.
They said that fresh DPR for pending works has been forwarded to higher ups and we are hopeful that it will be approved soon and funds will be made available so that work on the project can be restarted.
