Police inaugurate Shaheed Sultan memorial football championship
Sopore: Police on Saturday organised “Sultan Memorial Football Championship” at Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore.
The tournament is being held under the banner of Civic Action Program and 10 different teams of Police District Sopore are participating in the championship.
The tournament was inaugurated by Family members of Shaheed Muhammad Sultan, resident of Muqam Shaheed Mir Sopore, who was martyred last year in Bandipora.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore (ADC) Parvaiz Sajad accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore (SSP) Shabir Nawab as chief guests.
On the occasion DYSP DAR Sopore Aabid Rashid, DYSP Syed Gazanfar, SHO Sopore, SHO Tarzoo and Inspector Zia ul Rehman among other officers of Police and civil administration were also present.
In his address, SSP Sopore appreciated all the teams for taking part in the sports event.
He also stressed upon the young players of the Police District to allow their minds to explore their own thoughts and imagination through the medium of sports and explore their hidden talent.
The inaugural match was played between SL Academy FC and Baba Raza FC Sopore which was won by SL Academy by margin of 4-0.
Later, Ruhijaan from SL Academy FC was declared man of the match.
