Sopore: The Kashmir Mercantile Cooperative Bank Limited (KAMCO) was conferred with the prestigious 2022 SKOCH Silver Award in the Cooperation category for its work towards Digitalization.

The felicitation was done in a virtual ceremony held on November 22.

KAMCO bagged this enviable distinction for its unrelenting pursuit of substantive digitalization which was facilitated by the firm support and regular hand-holding offered by the Secretary department of Cooperatives Yasha Mudgal.

“This is yet another feather in the cap of the Cooperative Movement in the Union Territory of J&K, which is lately gaining unprecedented traction in its journey towards the pristine goal of “Sahkaar se Samriddhi under the leadership of Yasha Mudgal combined with the tireless efforts of all the stakeholders,” an official said.

Kashmir Mercantile Co-Operative Bank Ltd. Sopore is an Urban Co-Operative Bank, registered under the provisions of J&K Co-operative Societies Act, 1989 and licensed by Reserve Bank of India under the provisions of Banking Regulations Act, 1949 (AACS).

The Bank commenced its business on October 10, 1987 as a Unit Bank in Sopore town, and presently has five branches.

The registered office of the Bank is situated at Sopore and its area of operation is the entire North Kashmir which includes District Baramulla, District Kupwara and District Bandipora.

All branches of the Bank have been fully computerized on CBS platform since 2012. KAMCO Bank is a pioneer among cooperative banks in the UT providing all sorts of digital channel services to its customers viz. ATM, Debit Card, Mobile Banking, DBT, PFMS, UPI and BEPG.

The Bank has started almost all delivery channel services to enable its customers to have real time 24×7 access on their money. The slogan of the Bank “Together We Stand” is a call for unity to all sections of the society irrespective of any social/cultural or religious distinctions, to promote an environment conducive to a new economic system based on equity and social justice.

Instituted in 2003, SKOCH Award salutes people, projects and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation.
