AHD Jammu launches awareness campaign to control LSD
JAMMU: A team of Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) headed by the Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu Dr. Shubhra Sharma on Friday toured far- flung areas of district Reasi and Udhampur to launched an extensive awareness campaign to prevent the spread of Lumpy Skin disease (LSD) in dairy animals.
The team visited epicenters like Bashty, Sudhmahadev, Mantalai, Basantgarh, Dudu of Udhampur district, KothBalian, Sirah Kotla, Kakryal Dharti, Sool, Butan, Bangal, Gadhal, Agarjitto of Reasi District and interacted with dairy owners and PRIs.
The director enquired about the status of vaccination, stock of medicines and other logistics at every centre.
Speaking on the occasion, she educated the farmers regarding various preventive steps to be taken for controlling the spread of this disease.
She further informed the public that all necessary steps have been taken by the department to prevent the further spread of the viral disease.
She instructed Officers and paravet to remain stationed at their respective headquarters and provide all necessary assistance to livestock owners.
Deputy Director Central informed that Rapid Response teams have been set up in the region for providing timely treatment to the ailing animals.
He further said that the vaccination programme is going on war footing.
During the campaign Director along with CAHO Udhampur, CAHO Reasi, officers and staff of the department also paid visits to various dairy owners of district Udhampur and Reasi as part of door to door campaign started by the Animal Husbandry Department for control of Lumpy Skin disease and inspected the animals.
