National Lok Adalat held across Kupwara

KUPWARA: The National Lok Adalat was today organised across District Kupwara under the instructions of National Legal Services Authority of India and under immediate supervision of JK legal Services Authority.
A total of Nine benches were constituted by chairman DLSA, Tasleem Arief, (Principal District & Sessions Judge Kupwara) for taking up a total of 4544 cases of various nature across court complexes of the District.
The Pr. District & Sessions Judge himself presided over a bench at District Court Complex along with Additional District Judge, Javid Ahmed Geelani as member. Whereas three other benches were constituted at district headquarter.
Out of the total cases taken up, 3893 cases of various nature were settled on spot by amicable means with the intervention of benches and participating advocates which resulted in settlement of Rs. 14987818 worth motor accident claims as well from the bench Presided by Tasleem Arief (Pr. District & Sessions Judge Kupwara).
Besides a total of Rs. 14796518 was realized in recovery cases and Rs. 191300 realized as compensation and fine.
Apart from litigant public, officers of civil administration, various banks, Insurance Companies, members of Bar, police and prosecution participated in the National Lok adalat which was organised through hybrid mode of physical and virtual simultaneously, so as to negotiate the risks of COVID-19 without compromising upon the productivity of the lok adalat.
Pr. District & Sessions Judge thanked the participants particularly the representatives of Bank, Insurance Companies and Members of Bar.
