Police arrests four drug peddlers in Handwara

Handwara: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, the police spokesman said.
A police handout reads that the Police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Champora Crossing intercepted three persons in suspicious condition.
“On search, 80 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession,” the handout reads.
Police have identified the accused as Waseem Ahmad Mochi son of Abdul Razak resident of Kralpora Khargund, Mohammad Sultan Hajam son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Sherkoot and Talib Ahmad Sheikh son of Farooq Ahmad resident of Amargad.
“They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” the handout reads.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a police party of Police Station Vilgam arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established near Dolipora.
The arrested has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Mochi son of Ab Khaliq resident of Taratpora.
“During checking, 70 grams of charas like substance were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” the handout reads.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated, it reads.
