Special Gram Sabhas for clearance of ‘Forest Rights Claims’ held in 10 blocks
983 cases approved by FRC, forwarded to SDLFC
KUPWARA: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, special Gram Sabhas envisaged for clearance of pending Forest Rights claims were held in 10 Blocks of 3 Forest Divisions of Kupwara district.
The Gram Sabhas were conducted from July 1st to 17th with full participation of general public of these blocks which include Hyhama, Nutnussa, Kalaroose, Sogam, Wavoora, Machill, Qadirabad, Rajwar, Magam and Qalamabad.
During the course of Gram Sabhas, 2138 cases including1838 IFRC and 300 CFR were discussed. Of these, 1155 cases were rejected at FRC level and 983 cases including 760 IRFC and 223 CFRC have been approved and forwarded to Sub Divisional Level Forest Committee (SDLFC) for examination and further recommendation to District Level Committee.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara has issued directions to all Sub Divisional Level Forest Committees to clear all cases duly approved by FRC within 15 days and submit the same to District Level Committee for issuance of rights to the eligible beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, J&K Well Care Civil Society Kashmir thanked DC Kupwara for sanctioning Rs 87.00 lac for Primary Health center Villagam which was a long pending demand of the people.
It said that the inhabitants were putting up this demand frequently so that the hospital could be made functional.
