DC Pulwama reviews functioning of Edu Deptt

Pulwama: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary who is also chairman District Level Implementation Committee, Samagra Shiksha Tuesday held a detailed review of all works of education department under District Capex, UT Capex, PRI, BDC, DDC and Samagra Shiksha at Mini-Secretariat, here.
The DC took a review of developmental activities carried out in the Education sector under PRIs, SAMAGRA, status of school buildings under SAMAGRA, dropout rate, out of school, staff position and financial and physical progress of all the works.
The DC directed CEO and ZEOs to ensure that no student in the age group of 06-14 years is out of school and stressed for their enrollment particularly those belonging to the SC and ST category.
He also asked them to arrange additional coaching classes for SC and ST students to help them in obtaining quality education.
Further, Choudhary directed the CEO and the ZEOs to conduct a case study of each drop out student to ascertain the facts that compel them to give up education midway.
On the occasion, DC was informed that 854 children are out of school in the district. Showing great concern regarding the number of dropout students in the district, the DC asked the concerned officers to take concrete measures to reduce the dropout rate and motivate such children to come back to schools.
Choudhary also took a detailed review of the overall functioning of all educational institutions of the district from concerned ZEOs.
After taking review of the developmental works being executed by different agencies, the DC directed the concerned to expedite the work to overcome the problem of accommodation in the schools.
He directed the ZEOs to monitor the progress of work on a regular basis and asked the CEO to ensure that the available funds are used judicially to avoid lapse of any amount.
The CEO was asked to coordinate with the R&B while keeping track of all the ongoing works under various schemes viz Capex works, SAMAGRA works.
The ZEOs were also directed to achieve the set targets for various scholarship schemes of the Social Welfare Department and other centrally sponsored welfare schemes especially for girls.
He directed them to ensure the availability of drinking water, power and toilets in all schools at an earliest and no girl student leaves her studies due to the unavailability of toilets.
