Srinagar: The multi-purpose health workers of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to direct his administration to release their pending salaries.
The female health workers said they are without wages for the past six months.
Thousands of female multipurpose workers work in health centers across J&K under 2211 head (Health & Family Welfare), a centrally-sponsored scheme.
FMPHWs working under 2210 head never face such issues and get their salaries in time but those working under 2211 head haven’t got their wages, the aggrieved workers said.
“Education of our children gets affected because we are not able to pay their fees regularly,” they said, adding that despite putting in best efforts during the COVID pandemic, they have to “beg for salaries”.
The aggrieved workers said they are without wages since December last year and are going through a very tough times.
“If the government doesn’t release our salaries till 10th of this month, we will come on roads in every district in protest,” they said.
