Tachloo Shopian residents complain shortage of drinking water

Shopian: The residents of Tachloo village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district have been facing acute water crisis for the past 12 days, locals have alleged.
They said that since the last 12 days they haven’t received a single drop of water from the water supply line due to which they are suffering during these days of fasting.
Suddenly the water taps have dried up in the area forcing locals to go for long distances to fetch potable water, they said.
Suddenly our supply has dried up due to which we are suffering especially during Iftari and Sehri time, said Showkat Ahmad, a local resident.
“Women folk have to cover long distances in order to fetch water during the month of Ramadan,” he said.
Since day one we have repeatedly requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter but nothing has been done as of now, locals added.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that the issue is resolved at an earliest.
Meanwhile, an official of the PHE department said that men have been put on the restoration work and potable water supply will be restored soon.
