Anantnag: The residents of Dadoo Marhama in Bijbehara Tehsil of Anantnag district are up in arms against the R&B department as according to them the construction work on a road has not been done as per DPR.
Locals said that the construction of road from main road Dadoo to Nawab Mohalla was started after it was tendered out and around 40 lakh rupees were sanctioned for it.
They said that contractor who was allotted the work hasn’t worked as per DPR due to which there are apprehensions among the locals that it won’t serve the purpose for what it was meant to be.
They said there was need of three pipes at one spot on the road but contractor has used just one pipe to save money and during apple season the road can collapse and cave in as heavy trucks laden with fruit have to pass through the area.
They said that no proper dust was laid on the road besides that roller too wasn’t used on it and as a result the road can come off during rains.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and direct the said contractor to work as per DPR, otherwise his payment shouldn’t be released.
Meanwhile, an official of R&B said that they have already taken cognizance of the issue and a team of officials have visited spot on Friday.
He assured that work will be done as per DPR and there will be no compromise on it.
