Soldier ends life at his camp in Awantipora
Srinagar: A soldier ended his life by shooting himself dead with service rifle at a camp in Awantipora area of south Kashmir on Monday, reports said.
Official sources said that at about 1550 hours, soldier Mohit of army’s 34 RR, who was presently attached with Victor Force, committed suicide by using his personal weapon.
They said that soon hearing firing shots his colleagues rushed towards him and removed him to hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival. It was not immediately known as to why the soldier took the extreme step, they added.
A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that further proceedings are underway. (GNS)
