Srinagar: The administration Friday refuted a claim made by National Conference leader Sarah Hayat Shah wherein she had tweeted about a school being run from a cowshed in north Kashmir’s Gurez area.

“The school is presently functioning from a rented building, which is in good condition given the topography of the area ad local architecture of house in Gurez, not from any Cow-Shed,” an official spokesman said in response to the tweet.

In a tweet, the NC leader had claimed that the school is operating from a cow shed.

“@SaraHayatShah Please take a look at NAYA KASHMIR. Cow shed turned into middle school in Tulail, Gurez. International infrastructure,” she had tweeted.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said that the local Panchayat was not able to identify suitable land for the construction of new school building which is already approved in plan despite repeated efforts of the Department.

“The work on new building will start immediately after land identification,” he added.
