Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested three drug peddlers in two different instances in Awantipora and recovered contraband, psychotropic substance from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police arrested two drug peddlers identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat @ Cheeni son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Tral Bala and Feroze Ahmad Pinchoo son of Abdul Ahad Pinchoo resident of Jawberra Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Kharmoad. 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in two polythene bags were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.
At another instance, a police party of Police Station Awantipora at a checking point established at Padgampora arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Aziz Dar son of Abdul Razaq resident of Kharmod Awantipora. On search 05 Kgs of grinded Cannabis concealed in a bag was recovered from his possession.
The arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 25/2022 and 26/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation have been taken up, he added.
