Pulwama: The residents of the Urbagh and its adjacent areas in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a concrete bridge over nallah Romshi.
The residents of the area said that in absence of concrete bridge they are forced to cross the stream using an unsafe makeshift bridge.
They added that area has been demanding concrete bridge across the stream since decades but as of today nothing happened on ground.
The locals added that several years back RDD department constructed a makeshift bridge across the stream but that too is now lying in dilapidated condition.
“We have made several representations to the authorities but despite promises, no construction work has been started so far,” Manzoor Ahmad, a local resident said.
He said that despite knocking doors of every authority, residents are forced to take longer routes to reach their destinations.
Locals added that all important institutions are on other side of the stream and they have no option other to cross the makeshift bridge to reach to DC office and other offices for routine work.
They further added that during medical exigencies, the people are left suffering as it becomes difficult to take patients across using the unsafe bridge.
The locals requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and construct a concrete bridge so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
