Much awaited receiving station records completion in Anantnag
Will be made functional in coming days: Officials
Srinagar: After a long wait of around four year, the construction of power receiving station at Ara Khushipora in Anantnag district has been complete and is expected to be made functional in coming few days.
An official working on the project said that it was part of Prime Ministry Development Package and approved under Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) for rural electrification few years back.
He said that around 20 crore were spent on the project which includes two receiving station and distribution work of around 45 habitations and cost of receiving station at Ara Khushipora was around Rs 3.5 crore.
He said that power supply to the receiving station will be supplied from Hiller Shahabad which is around 7.5 km from the spot.
He said that department is conducting a testing process in next few days and then the station will be made functional and it is expected that it will benefit around one dozen villages of the area.
Pertinently, similar receiving station under same protect was constructed in Darigund Srigufwara at a cost of around 3 crore which has been made functional already a month back, after which people of the area have heaved a sigh of relief who were otherwise complaining of voltage drop and pesky power cuts in the area.
Similarly, people of Ara Khushipora, Dehruna, Hakoora, Badasgam, Palpora, and other adjoining areas are hopeful that after this station will be made functional, the problems like unscheduled power cuts and voltage drop will be solved.
Waris Ahmad a local resident said, “We are facing power problems during winters and we were in need of receiving station. We hope that we will get rid of all problems once this station will be mage functional.”
Locals of the area are also hopeful that it will help students of the area to prepare for their studies and exams as well as the area will witness continuous power supply.
