Police arrests two drug peddlers in Ganderbal, Pulwama

Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that police at Ganderbal at a checkpoint established at Syed Kadal intercepted a person identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Ahmad Shah resident of Harran Ganderbal.
During checking, officers were able to recover 250 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.03/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
Similarly in Pulwama, police officers during patrolling in Hunipora Wanpora intercepted aperson who was roaming in a suspicious manner and tried to flee from the spot but the alert police party arrested him tactfully.
During checking, officers were able to recover 5.1kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohammad Akbar Ganaie resident of Wanpora Pulwama, the spokesman said.
During preliminary investigation the accused person disclosed that he has hidden more contraband substances in his residential house. Subsequently, the Police party raided the accused residential house and recovered 9.4kgs of Poppy straw.
Accordingly, a case FIR No.03/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kakapora and further investigation set into motion, he added.
