Tangmarg Forest Division launches Plantation Drives
Tangmarg: As part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav ,Divisional Forest officer Tangmarg Tuesday launched two plantation drives in Sub Division Tangmarg.
The first plantation drive was carried out in the premises of Munsiff Court Tangmarg with collaboration of Munsiff Jugde Tangmarg and Bar association Tangmarg. The second drive was carried out in Sub District Hospital Tangmarg with active support from BMO Tangmarg and other staff members of the Hospital, a spokesman of the department said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Forest Officer Tangmarg Showkat Ahmad said that plantation drives under the ambit of Green J&K Drive (Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav) are crucial to maintain the ecological balance and to mitigate the climate change effects in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
He further informed that UT is at the 4th place (ISFR report 2019) highest increase in the forest cover in the Country and this year the target of plantation of the J&K Forest Department is 1.30 lakh plants.
