Two drug peddlers held in Pulwama
Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered huge quantity of psychotropic substance from their possession, a police spokesman said here.
He said that a police party during patrolling in Putrigam area intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot however, alert police party apprehended him tactfully. He has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Darzi son of Abdul Rasheed Darzi resident of Kharpora Murran. During search 20 bottles of Codeine Phosphate was recovered from his possession, the spokesman said.
During questioning, he discloses that he has obtained the psychotropic substance from a person identified as Aijaz Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Nabi Najar resident of Batamurran Shadimarg. Acting swiftly, a police party raided the spot and recovered 2000 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the residential house of the Aijaz Ahmad.
Both the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 209/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora and further investigation has been initiated. More arrests and recoveries are expected, the spokesman added.
