Anti-encroachment drive carried out in Sopore

Sopore: In order to ensure smooth traffic movement in and around Sopore town, the employees of the Municipal council Sopore along with Police on Tuesday removed encroachments set up by street vendors and illegal sumo stands.
An official from municipal council Sopore said that the streets of the town were mainly occupied by street vendors and illegal sumo stands, causing traffic jams through out the town and posing inconvenience to the pedestrians.
He said that last year street vendors had been provided with space at certain places with in the town to sell their merchandise that had provided relief to the people.
“But soon they again appeared and encroached the roads of the town causing huge traffic jams,” he said.
“So we, with the help of Sopore police removed the encroached space from street vendors and also warned shopkeepers not to display their items outside their shops,” he added.
