Youth shot dead in old city

Srinagar: Unknown gunmen shot dead a civilian at Bohri Kadal area of old city Srinagar, officials said Monday.
They said that unknown gunmen fired at a man identified as Muhammad Ibrahim, a resident of Ashtengu Ghat, area of northern district of Bandipora and working as salesman at a local shop.
The attack left him critically injured after which he was shifted to a hospital.
Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital Dr Kanwaljeet Singh said that a civilian was brought to hospital with two bullet injuries in his abdomen.
Hospital authorities, however, said that Ibrahim succumbed while being operated.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that at 8:10 pm, police received information about the crime incident at Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that militants had fired upon one civilian identified as Muhammad Ibrahim Khan son of Ghulam Muhammad Khan, resident of Ashtengoo, Bandipora. In this incident, Ibrahim received critical gunshot injured and was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where he succumbed,” the police spokesman said.
He said that the police have registered a case in this regard.
“Investigations is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this crime. Area has been cordoned off and search operation has been launched in the area,” the spokesman added.
