Pujteng residents in south Kashmir seek upgraded electric transformer

Anantnag: The residents of Pujteng area of Sangam hamelt in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded upgradation of 100 KVA transformer that has been installed in the area.
The residents said that existing 100 KVA transformer often develops technical snag due to which inhabitants are suffering.
They said that since the last three years they have been taking up the issue with the concerned officials but to no avail.
Firdous Ahmad a local resident said due to heavy load on existing transformer, it develops snags frequently.
He said that during the last 15 days the transformer got damaged three times and the locals especially the students had to face a tough ordeal.
Another local said that there are around dozens of households besides dozens of factories which are getting supply from the existing transformer but due to heavy during winter months the transformer remains defunct.
He said that the transformer has been installed some two decades back but since then the number of households dependent on it have increased manifold.
The locals demanded that government must look into the matter at an earliest and upgrade the existing transformer from 100 KVA to 250 KVA.
They demanded personal intervention of Chief Engineer PDD and concerned Executive Engineer in this regard.
