Police arrests drug peddler in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Beehama Ganderbal intercepted a person who on seeing the police party tried to escape from the spot but the alert police party apprehended him tactfully.
He was identified as Irshad Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Saloora, the spokesman added.
During checking, officers were able to recover 96 tablets of banned drugs from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 203/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman said.
