Three drug peddlers, contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that three drug peddlers were arrested in Bandipora and Handwara areas of north Kashmir.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information, a Police party from Police Station Sumbal established a checkpoint at Bazipora Ajas and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK15A-8320.
The vehicle was driven by Manzoor Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Maqbool Rather resident of Bazipora Ajas Sumbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 600 Capsules of Tramadol Hydrochloride from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, the spokesman said.
He said that in Handwara, officers from Police Station Vilgam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK09C-1530 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Abdul Hamid khan son of Ghulam Mohiudin Khan resident of Dolipora and Nisar Ahmad Khan son of Showkat Ahmad Khan resident of Nelipora Magam. During checking, officers were able to recover 20 grams of Brown Sugar from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated. During preliminary investigation it surfaced that the accused drug peddlers are involved in supplying drugs in the area, the spokesman added.
