Drug peddler arrested in Handwara
Srinagar: Police Sunday arrested a drug peddler in Handwara in north Kashmir and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police personnel from Police Post Zachaldara established a checkpoint at Sultanpora bridge and intercepted a person in suspicious condition who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Lachipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 190 grams of charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 242/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
