13 years on, new PHC building Devsar awaits completion
Anantnag: Even after the lapse of over 13 years, Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam is awaiting completion.
Locals said that since last three decades Primary Health Centre continues to function from an old dilapidated building which has no space and lacks all the relevant infrastructure.
They said that PHC caters to more than a dozen villages but despite that authorities have failed to complete the new building and make it functional which has been left abandoned due to unknown reasons.
The locals said that the new abandoned building has become a hub for drug addicts in the area and eve teasing incidents have become order of the day there.
Ghulam Nabi, a local resident said that PHC continues to function from a building which was constructed in 1985 but the department has failed to complete the new building which was started in year 2008.
He said that they have brought this issue to the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
Due to space crunch and other issues, locals are forced to visit sub district and district hospitals which costs them both time and money, said Raqib Ahmad, another local resident
He said that last year during DDC elections, DDC members were kept there for a while but it is yet to be made functional.
Locals have now appealed the LG lead administration to look into the matter at an earliest and address the matter on priority so that locals can have a sigh of relief.
