Encounter breaks out in Srinagar outskirts, area sealed off
Srinagar, May 17: A gunfight has started between militants and government forces in Khanmoh area in outskirts of Srinagar district on Monday.
Reports said that a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Khanmoh area.
As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
A police official confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman also tweeted confirming the encounter.
