Low intensity IED blast in Shopian, no damages reported
Srinagar, May 16: A low Improvised Explosive Device was triggered by suspected militants inTurkawangam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district here on Sunday.
Official sources said that a low intensity IED was triggered near an army Casper vehicle in Turkawangam area. However, no loss of life or injury has been reported
Meanwhile, the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that security establishment already had input regarding planting of IED in Turkawangam area.
“We had input of IED being planted there. Security forces went to detect it but militants exploded the same from a distance,” the IGP said, adding “there was no damage to security forces in the incident.”
He said that the area has been cordoned off and searches launched to nab the attackers. (GNS)
