Demand attention of authorities, seek repairs

Anantnag: An all important vital Achabal-Chittergul road in Anantnag district is in a very bad condition since the past many years now as locals allege that authorities have forgot to mecadamise the road.
Locals aid that the 22 Kilometer Achabal-Chittergul road is a vital road connecting over 50 villages with district headquarters Anantnag.
“But this road has been neglected by the authorities even though the locals have complained about it many times,” the local residents said.
They said that despite connecting various important places like Shangus, Utersoo and Chittergul with the rest of the district, authorities due to unknown reasons have been taking this road for granted.
They alleged that they are suffering due to the potholed road as this road was macadamised several years before and is lying in shambles for many years now.
“No attention is being provided to repeated requests of local residents to get the road repaired,” Nisar Ahmad Dar, a local resident added.
He said that the locals approached the concerned authorities several times with a plea to macadamize the road, but all in vain as nothing has been done in this regard.
“We want to bring it to the notice of concerned officials of R&B department to improve the condition of the road at the earliest so that we don’t have to suffer anymore,” he said.
Officials within the R&B department said that due to shortage of funds, the road wasn’t macadamized.
“The road has been kept in ongoing years plan and hopefully it will be macadamised this year,” an official of the department said.
