Mehraj-ul-Alam celebrated with religious fervor across Kashmir
Srinagar: Braving rains and chill, thousands of devotees on Friday thronged shrines and Masjids across the Kashmir for special prayers on Mehraj-ul-Alam, the night when Prophet Mohammad (SAW) made the journey across the skies.
The biggest congregation was held at Dargah Hazratbal here where thousands of devotees including men, women and children converged to have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) after five-time prayers.
Local administration had made special arrangements and traffic was manned to ensure smooth movement. Similar congregational prayers were held in many other shrines in the valley include Jinab Sahib Soura, Aasar-i-Sharief Shahri Kailshpora, Aasar-i-Sharief Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Mualla, Dastegeer Sahib Khanyar, Kohimaran, Ziyarat Syed Saib Sonwar and Ziyarat Makdoom Sahib.
On Thursday during a meeting convened here the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary reviewed the arrangements finalised for the holy occasion of Shab-e-Mehraj.
He directed for ensuring that all facilities as required were put in place at Dargah Hazratbal and other places of worship where major congregations are expected.
Dr Shahid had emphasised strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. He had urged the people to ensure compliance with preventions and guidelines to prevent spread and contraction of the virus. (GNS)
