Poultry, meat shops sealed for contaminating irrigation canal
Shopian: Authorities in south Kashmir’s Shopian district sealed a chicken and two mutton shops for contaminating the waters of an irrigation canal.
Official sources said that after receiving complaints from locals that butchers and poultry shop owners are throwing waste and other stuff in the irrigation canal thus blocking free flow of water, Naib Tehsildar Chitragam Altaf Hussain visited Nagbal Dachoo village of Shopian for spot verification.
The official sealed one chicken and two meet shops for violation of norms and contaminating and blocking the irrigation canal by throwing blood, wastes and bones in it.
Authorities directed all other shop keepers including medical shopkeepers, Agro pesticides to desist from such illegal acts of manipulating the environment, surroundings, irrigation source and not using dustbins. (KNT)
