Anantnag: A village in Qazigund belt of south Kashmir is without power supply from last one month as authorities have failed to repair the damaged transform in the area since the past four weeks now.
Locals said that they are reeling under darkness as authorities have failed to repair the transformer which developed a snag four weeks back.
They said that around 110 households are getting power supply from the 100 KVA transformer in Y K Pora ward A of Qazigund.
“The transformer is witnessing overload and as a result it develops snags frequently,” Feroz Ahmad, a local said.
He said that in various nearby areas a 100 KVA transformer has been given to only 50 households where as in Y K Pora the same capacity transformer has been provided to over 100 households.
“Our transformer gets damaged every week due to the overload and there is no body to check this issue,” said Bashir Ahmad, another local resident.
He said that they have brought this issue to the notice of all concerned authorities but their repeated promises have proved hoax.
“During the last two months, our transformer got damaged six times but there is no body to take cognizance of the issue,” said Mohammed Ashraf, another local.
The locals have now requested the higher ups to look into the matter and get the damaged transformer repaired or replaced at an earliest. They said that two transformers of 100 KVA strength should be sanctioned for the village.
Despite repeated attempts, the concerned Executive Engineer (PDD) was not available for his comments on the issue.
