Police seizes illegal timber in Baramulla
Srinagar: Police successfully seized a consignment of illicitTimber in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that police received reliable information regarding illegal smuggling of forest timber in the Goigam area. Acting swiftly on the input, a police team was deputed to the spot for verification and search.
During the search operation, illegal forest timber was seized with the following details: 38 window frames measuring 4 × 1½ feet, three planks measuring 5 × 5 inches and four planks measuring 1½ × 5 inches.
The seized timber was recovered on the spot from the possession of Khurshheed Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Ghani Khan, resident of Goigam. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation was initiated, he added.
