Police solve theft case in Awantipora, accused held
Srinagar: Police successfully solved a theft case within three hours by arresting the accused lady involved in the commission of the crime and recovered the stolen property, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that police received a complaint from Shaiq Ahmad Bhat, resident of Rajpora Ullar, stating therein that some unknown thieves had stolen gold ornaments and cash from his residential house. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 33/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, a police team with the assistance of modern investigative techniques, including collection and analysis of CCTV footage from various locations, established the involvement of a lady accused identified as Asmat Jan, daughter of Jalal Ud Din Bhat resident of Rajpora Ullar. Accordingly, the lady accused was arrested. Stolen property worth approximately ₹14,00,000 (Fourteen lakh rupees) was also recovered from her possession.
