HC to hear arguments in Mehraj Malik’s PSA case next week

Srinagar: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will hear the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s arguments in support of the detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on February 12.
Justice Mohammad Yousuf part-heard the arguments of the Union Territory administration on Thursday and listed the case for further hearing on February 12, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Mudasir Hassan told PTI.
Malik, the MLA from Doda, was arrested under the PSA in September last year.
The AAP had challenged the detention before the high court.

Police recovered contraband substance from a residential house in Shopian

Srinagar: Police in Shopian recovered contraband substance from a residential house in Melhura Zainapora, a police spokesman said Thursday.
He said that acting on specific information, police registered a case under FIR No. 07/2026 of NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the competent authority. A team from Police Post Wachi accompanied by the Executive Magistrate, raided the house of Rayees Ahmad Koka resident of Melhura Zainapora. During search, 05 grams of Heroin-like substance was seized. The accused has been arrested and further investigation has been initiated.
