CM to introduce two key bills on governance, social justice in LA

Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to introduce two key Bills related to governance reforms and social justice during the Assembly proceedings on Wednesday.

As per the List of Business issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the House will meet on Wednesday, February 4. During the session, questions listed separately will be taken up, followed by the introduction of two significant Bills by the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will introduce “A Bill to amend certain enactments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for decriminalising and rationalising offences to further enhance trust-based governance for ease of living and doing business” (L.A. Bill No. 01 of 2026), which has already been published in an extraordinary issue of the Official Gazette.

He will also introduce “A Bill to amend certain enactments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to eliminate discrimination or denial of equal treatment for persons affected by leprosy and to enable the Union Territory to discharge its positive obligations through affirmative action” (L.A. Bill No. 02 of 2026), also notified earlier through the Official Gazette.

The House will later continue discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Address of the Lieutenant Governor, marking an important phase of the ongoing Assembly proceedings.
