Cable Car Corporation to deploy snow mobile ambulances to enhance medical response in Gulmarg
Gulmarg: To ensure safety and timely medical response for skiers on snow slopes during medical emergencies, the Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation is purchasing and deploying two high capacity snow mobile ambulances across key Alpine areas of Gulmarg, including Affarvat and Kongdori.
The State Cable Car Corporation is purchasing two high capacity snow mobile ambulances along with a few ATVs. The tendering process is currently underway. The move aims to ensure timely assistance during any medical emergency on the Alpine slopes.
Officials said the vehicles are designed to operate in deep snow and difficult terrain. They can quickly reach injured skiers or riders in areas where regular ambulances cannot operate.
As part of rescue team operations, the snow mobile ambulances will work alongside ski patrol and rescue personnel to ensure rapid evacuation and medical care, official said.
The snow mobile ambulances will be used to respond to medical emergencies and traumatic injuries on the slopes. The vehicles will be equipped to provide on site emergency care and safely transport patients from the slopes to nearby medical facilities, he added.
Gulmarg witnesses a sharp rise in tourist numbers during the winter season. Thousands of visitors arrive each year for skiing and other snow related activities. This increases the demand for fast and reliable medical services on the slopes, officials said.
Officials added that the decision to deploy snow mobile ambulances was taken to reduce response time and improve patient outcomes during emergencies.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen winter safety infrastructure in Gulmarg and support adventure tourism in the region.
The deployment is expected to be in place for the upcoming ski season. It aims to reassure tourists and enhance overall safety standards across Affarvat, Kongdori, and other Alpine slopes in Gulmarg, officials added.
