Police solves theft case in Awantipora
Srinagar: Police solved a theft case in Awantipora by arresting an accused persons involved in the crime and recovered stolen property from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that police received a written complaint from Sayar Ahmad Sheikh of Midoora Awantipora, stating there in that, on 24/01/2026, unknown thieves barged into his residential house and stole approximately 1000 Kgs of iron rods.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 26/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation was initiated, the spokesman said.
During the course of investigation, a police team used modern investigative techniques, including analysis of CCTV footage from multiple locations, led to the arrest of two persons identified as Mohammad Mustafa Gujar son of Atta Gujar and Bashir Ahmad Dedard son of Mukhan Din Dedard, both residents of Sangaldan, Bandal, Ramban.
The stolen property was recovered along with a truck bearing registration number JK02AU-9317, which was used for transporting the stolen property. Further investigation is underway to ascertain their involvement in other similar cases, he said.
