Police assist woman, her newborn child during heavy snowfall at Kulgam

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam, in a display of prompt action, compassion, dedication and commitment to public service, responded to another distress call amidst incessant snowfall and slippery road in the region, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that a distress call from Uppermunda, Qazigund was received for assistance, stating that one woman along with her new born baby were stuck on way at Chango Crossing and the family members were unable to take them to home at their own because of incessant snowfall and slippery road.
On the directions of senior police officers a police team was constituted and despite of adverse weather conditions, the team shifted the woman along with her new born baby on foot to their residential place at Uppermunda Gujjar basti, Qazigund safely.
The timely intervention underscores police’s unwavering dedication to serving the community, even in challenging circumstances. Police urges the public to exercise caution during severe weather conditions and to reach out in emergencies for assistance, the spokesman added.
