Two held with Heroin like substance in Anantnag: Police

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag achieved a significant success against drug trafficking by apprehending two persons along with contraband substances, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Acting on specific information, a police party intercepted two individuals at the Harnag–Bategoo bypass. Upon search, heroin-like contraband substance weighing approximately 65 grams was recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Bhupinder Singh, son of Chanan Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab, and Balbir Chand, son of Kishan Chand, resident of Dinagarh, Gurdaspur. Both were arrested on the spot, and the recovered contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures, the spokesman added.
In this connection, FIR No. 265/2025 under Sections 8/21,29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and further investigation has been taken up, he said.
