Police seizes eight vehicles involved in illegal mining
Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal seized eight vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of Ganderbal, Gund and Nagbal, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
He said that the vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid permission and were subsequently seized on the spot by concerned police teams in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department.
Illegal extraction of minerals not only causes loss to the public exchequer but also leads to severe environmental degradation. Police has reiterated its firm resolve to take strict action against those involved in such unlawful activities, the spokesman said.
