Police busts illegal rebranding of Govt-issued rice in Awantipora
Accused arrested, vehicle seized
Srinagar: In a major action against illegal trade practices, Police in Awantipora received credible information regarding unlawful rebranding of government-issued rice at Shaltokuna Awantipora, a police spokesman said Friday.
Acting promptly on the information, a police team conducted a raid at the identified location.
During the operation, a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration number JK06-5469 was intercepted and seized. On inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with 80 bags of rice deceptively packed in apple-branded bags, 37 additional rice bags, along with other incriminating articles.
The accused, involved in the commission of crime has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Ab. Aziz Dar resident of Shaltokuna.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 207/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora.
