Police arrests two drug peddlers in Sopore

Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested two notorious drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of contraband psychotropic substances during naka checking at Nadihal, a police spokesman said.
The accused have been identified as, Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Habibullah Lone, resident of Nadihal and Barkat Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar, resident of Chakloo, the spokesman added.
According to police officials, a naka was laid at Nadihal based on specific inputs about narcotic smuggling in the area. During checking, a truck bearing registration number JK05F-4786 was intercepted. On thorough search of the vehicle, police recovered a large quantity of Spasmoproxyvon Plus psychotropic capsules, which had been concealed inside the truck.
The contraband was immediately seized on the spot, and both the accused were taken into custody. Police said that the seizure highlights the growing trend of drug smugglers adopting sophisticated methods to transport narcotics under the guise of legitimate trade.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Panzala, and further investigation has been set in motion to trace the forward and backward linkages, including the source of procurement and potential conduits in the supply chain. Authorities indicated that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses, the spokesman added.
