Swachhta Pakhwada 2025: Directorate of Tourism organises Plantation Drives

Srinagar: The Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir organized a series of cleanliness and plantation drives across tourist destinations as part of Swachhta Pakhwada being observed from 16th September to 30th September.
The drives were carried out at major tourist spots including Zabarwan Park Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Manasbal besides other prominent destinations across Kashmir. Stakeholders from the tourism sector, local communities, and school children actively participated, lending their wholehearted support in fostering awareness about the importance of cleanliness, greenery, and sustainable tourism.
In addition to cleanliness drives, plantation drives, awareness rallies, and waste management demonstrations were also organized. These activities not only highlighted the significance of environmental sustainability but also encouraged people, especially the youth, to adopt sustainable practices in maintaining the pristine beauty of Kashmir.
The Directorate underlined that the initiative is aligned with the objectives of Sewa Parv, which emphasizes service to society and preservation of shared heritage. They reiterated the department’s commitment to promoting Kashmir as a clean, green, and responsible tourism destination. The collective efforts aim to inspire visitors and locals alike to contribute towards nurturing the fragile ecosystem, thereby reinforcing the values of harmony between nature and humanity.
The Directorate expressed gratitude to all participants and stakeholders and appealed to citizens to continue these efforts beyond Swachhta Pakhwada, making cleanliness, environmental care, and sustainable tourism a way of life.
