Farmers on agriculture tour in Pulwama allege inadequate facilities
Appeal for intervention, seeks DC Pulwama’s help
Pulwama: An agriculture educational tour organized by the Agriculture Department Pulwama has run into trouble after participants alleged that they were left without proper arrangements for accommodation, food, and other basic necessities.
As per details, a group of 24 participants from different parts of Pulwama district joined the tour aimed at providing them exposure and awareness regarding modern agricultural practices. However, the team has now been stranded in Udhampur after facing severe inconvenience due to inadequate facilities.
“We were excited to be part of this program to learn about new agricultural techniques, but unfortunately the arrangements made for us are very poor. We are without proper food and shelter, and the situation is becoming unbearable,” one of the participants said.
Another participant added, “The purpose of such tours is to benefit farmers and agriculture enthusiasts, but instead of learning we are struggling here with basic survival needs. This is highly disappointing.”
The participants have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to intervene immediately and ensure necessary arrangements are made so that they do not suffer further.
Locals have also expressed concern over the matter, calling it unfortunate that a program meant for the benefit of farmers has turned into a distressing experience for them. “This kind of negligence not only defeats the purpose of such educational tours but also discourages people from participating in future initiatives,” a local resident said.
An official from the Agriculture Department said that necessary arrangements had been made for the tour, but admitted that there may have been some shortcomings. “We will look into the grievances of the participants and ensure that such issues are not repeated in future programs,” the official assured.
